Eight repeat selections and 12 first-time selections are part of the 2022 All-NFL team, chosen in voting conducted by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA).
The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers each placed a league-high four players on the All-NFL team, while the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles each had three players honored.
Browns guard Joel Bitonio, 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, Browns running back Nick Chubb, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, Eagles center Jason Kelce, Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin, Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parsons and 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams all repeated from the PFWA’s 2021 All-NFL squad.
Bitonio and Garrett were named All-NFL for the third straight season (2020-22), the longest current streak among active players. Bosa, Chubb, Jason Kelce, Martin, Parsons and Williams were all selected for the second straight season.
Martin made the All-NFL team for the sixth time overall (2015-18, 2021-22), while Jason Kelce is a five-time All-NFL selection (2017-19, 2021-22), Travis Kelce is a four-time All-NFL choice (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022) and Bitonio (2020-22), Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (2019, 2020 and 2022) and Garrett (2020-22) are three-time All-NFL selections.
A total of 12 players, including one rookie, are first-time All-NFL honorees. For the second straight year, a rookie was selected All-NFL as New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner was honored by the PFWA.
The Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets have two players each on the All-NFL team. In all, 14 clubs are represented among the 27 players honored by the PFWA.
The All-NFL offense includes Mahomes at quarterback (second selection; 2018), Chubb (second selection) and Las Vegas’ Josh Jacobs (first selection) at running back, the Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill (second selection – 1996 at punt returner) and the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson (first selection) at wide receiver, Travis Kelce at tight end, Jason Kelce at center, Bitonio and Martin at guard and Philadelphia’s Lane Johnson (second selection; 2017) and Williams (second selection) at tackle.
The All-NFL defense includes Bosa (second selection) and Garrett at defensive end, Kansas City’s Chris Jones (first selection) and the New York Jets’ Quinnen Williams (first selection) at defensive tackle, Parsons (second selection) and Philadelphia’s Haason Reddick (first selection) at outside linebacker, San Francisco’s Fred Warner (second selection; 2020) at middle linebacker, Gardner and the Denver Broncos’ Patrick Surtain II (first selection) at cornerback and Fitzpatrick and San Francisco’s Talanoa Hufanga (first selection) at safety.
The All-NFL special teams group are all first-time selections – Las Vegas’ Daniel Carlson at placekicker, Kansas City’s Tommy Townsend at punter, the Green Bay Packers’ Keisean Nixon at kickoff returner, the New England Patriots’ Marcus Jones at punt returner and the Washington Commanders’ Jeremy Reaves as the special teamer.
The PFWA also announced the 2022 All-AFC and All-NFC teams. Kansas City led the AFC with six selections, while Las Vegas placed four on the squad. Philadelphia led all NFC clubs with eight selections, while San Francisco had six NFC honorees.
The PFWA has selected an All-NFL team since 1966, and All-AFC and All-NFC teams since 1992.
