PFWA Pool Reporter Nicki Jhabvala Interview with Referee Clete Blakeman
New York Giants at Washington Commanders
Sunday, October 11, 2026
Question: Let’s start with the Amik Robertson pass interference in the third quarter (1:46, New York 3rd and 9, Washington 10 yard-line). What did you guys see there? Is there a reason it wasn’t holding? What did you see on that play?
Blakeman: “It was reported to me that the defender grabbed the jersey of the receiver and kind of pulled himself back into the play. Of course, it was while the ball was in the air, so it becomes pass interference, not defensive holding.”
Question: On Isaiah Likely’s second touchdown (fourth quarter, 7:24, New York 4th and 8, Washington 17-yard line), I know that’s one where it’s automatically reviewed so what did you guys see on review?
Blakeman: “It was tight at the goal line, ball’s out, so we’re working a fumble drill, who’s got it ultimately. As we’re doing that, replay is already going back and looking at the play itself. It was determined that the ball crossed the plane of the goal line prior to the runner losing possession. So, in other words, it was a score before it was a fumble.”
